Who is the appropriate “healer”-counselor for me?

Choosing the appropriate “healer”, health professional or counselor

Which “specialty-title” should I choose and how to distinguish his quality?

(in this article the term “therapist” is generalized in all humanitarian and counseling professions, namely alternative “healers” and classical “therapists” ie psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, etc.)

Which is today’s reality?

It is a tendency in today’s era as well as an evolutionary stage of mankind to shift towards the development and the widening of the mind consciousness, the awareness and the self-exploration and the unconscious way of thinking and behavior, introspection and making important life decisions based on all above. In addition, the puzzle is completed by the shift towards the acceptance and the choice of the classical psychotherapeutic methods as a means of personal development and not only as a medical benefit to typical mental illnesses, the acceptance of alternative medicine as a therapeutic approach, the acceptance of documented energy and alternative therapies, and the focus on self-improvement and self-knowledge.

Why should we be grateful for?

We must be grateful for the fact that today we have so many options for self-improvement and healing. And indeed, we live in a time when mankind is trying to detach itself and ultimately unleash the dogmatic ways of thinking and superstitions that over the past centuries weighed on the everyday life of people.

So we have to choose the appropriate therapist, healer, psychologist, psychiatrist, counselor, life coach for us etc.

In an abundance of choices among the above who is the right professional and the most fitting for us?

Initially, it is important to emphasize that every practitioner-professional of the foregoing is a separate class of professionals and in no case can the one role be substituted or be replaced from another, but the roles can be complemented and collaborated. For example, a person can regularly have psychotherapy on a subject and at the same time take life-giving advice from a life coach on career planning issues. A person can get medication from his psychiatrist and at the same time make alternative therapies.

The one does not exclude the other, neither replaces it.

A family counselor cannot make a medical diagnosis for a family member. But this does not negate the effectiveness of his work or the methods he uses.

Here we will not distinguish further the differences-similarities between these professionals. Whatever his identity is against us,

the right choice of a healer based on his quality is considered necessary by the following points:

  1. A “therapist” – “healer” is forbidden to compare himself with you. The session is about you and you alone. Often the “therapists” having experienced similar feelings or situations on a personal level or at the level of other patients compare or conclude with self-fulfilling prophecy conclusions and forget the uniqueness of the healing person facing them. So in such sessions it is often not covered the essential problem that you have visited the specialist for.
  2. A “therapist”-“healer” is forbidden to ask his patient to participate in the role of the therapist in his treatment. The patient / healing person clearly participates in the process or approach as determined by the process for his or her participation and nothing more.
  3. You feel with your intuition well and comfortably in his presence.
  4. You feel confident about what you share with him. Under no circumstances is it allowed the reproduction of what you’ve discussed with third parties on its own in a form that affects your dignity and your uniqueness as individuals.
  5. You feel secure against his presence.
  6. You feel comfortable talking about everything, even delicate issues that are utterly set in the everyday life.

Conclusion : Do Research

My personal view is that there are many solutions to whoever is ready to follow them. I always suggest research, searching, exploring choices, “testing”, knowledge. Visit a psychologist, but take a second opinion. Visit an alternative healer and a counselor. Experience the differences between approaches.  Do Experiment.  After collecting the information you can clearly distinguish and decide which or which ones are the right choices for you.

Sincerely,
