HISTORY OF THE V-AUTHENTIC PILATES® METHOD

The Pilates® method was designed by Joseph Pilates in the first decade of 1900. Its original name was Contrology because he wanted to emphasize the uniqueness of his approach, that is: The mind is used to control the muscles. He developed his method at the Isle of Man military hospital by working with patients with reduced mobility where doctors found that patients were improving much faster.

Joseph Pilates opens the first official Pilates® Studio in New York in 1926 (which continues to exist), where many dancers visit it to repair their injuries. Since then, Joseph Pilates likes to work with top dancers, acrobats, actors and performers because of their kinesthetic ability.

Today, the Pilates® method, having conquered the world at all ages and genders, remains a top choice of fitness and rehabilitation.

The total exercise book exceeds 600 exercises.

The V-Authentic Pilates® method took its name from the “V-position” of the legs during the exercises, which is a military posture. It is approved by the global PMA organization (Pilates Method Alliance) of the method.
